How We Do It

Since 2010, when SoP converted to digital mapping, we are maintaining a comprehensive geospatial database containing millions of features which are updated periodically. We use satellite imageries for capturing changes, incorporating them in our existing geospatial data to update the map sheets. Our field teams then engage in Ground Truthing to confirm those changes and finalizing those map sheets. Once demanded, we print such map sheets for various departments. We have also started Large Scale Mapping of areas using UAVs which are used by various departments/ agencies for their purposes.

We are presently engaged in establishing Pakistan’s Next Generation Geodetic Datum and Geodetic Framework. Once completed and operationalized, this will greatly increase our degree of accuracy, similar to other modern national mapping agencies of the world. We have also embarked upon establishing Pakistan’s National Spatial Data Infrastructure which, once operationalized, will completely transform the geospatial domain in the country and benefit both the public and private sectors besides the general public in future

Government and Public Sector

Across communities, our work enables safer, healthier and more prosperous living. Thousands of public sector users depend on geospatial data to deliver efficient services in areas such as healthcare, transport, housing and emergency response

Businesses

Our data and expertise help businesses create efficiencies, gain insights and build digital infrastructures across sectors such as energy, utilities, property, retail, transport and finance

International Cooperation

We also extend our expertise beyond national borders. By advising other countries and organizations, we contribute to sustainable development and effective governance worldwide

Through international partnerships, we demonstrate how geospatial standards and best practices can:

  • Save millions annually

  • Reduce carbon emissions

  • Improve evidence-based decision-making

  • Enable better service delivery and development planning
