Dr. Asmat joined the Survey of Pakistan in October 1988. He holds a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and possesses extensive experience in geospatial information production and management.
As the Deputy Surveyor General-II, he is responsible for overseeing national geospatial data management, including the updating and maintenance of geospatial databases and the development of advanced digital cartographic products.
He is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of the Pakistan National Spatial Data Infrastructure (Pak-NSDI). Dr. Asmat has authored multiple research papers and book chapters on National Spatial Data Infrastructure, Land Administration, and Public Policy. He also serves as a member of the reviewer board for the ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information
