Our public task defines what we do for Pakistan on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.
As the national mapping and land survey organisation of Pakistan, we are responsible for creating, maintaining, and providing access to authoritative geospatial and cartographic data across the country. Our work ensures that accurate mapping information is available for governance, development, defense, infrastructure, disaster management, and the public good.

Our Public Task

Our public task means we:

  1. Create, maintain, and improve the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) of Pakistan, which contains the authoritative geographic data of the country.

  2. Provide access to national mapping datasets to government organisations, private sector, academia, and the public.

  3. Offer technical and customer support to ensure the maximum use and benefit of geospatial data.

  4. Provide leadership at national and international levels on geospatial data, mapping standards, and survey practices.

  5. Maintain and develop physical and digital infrastructure needed for surveying, data capture, and updating national geospatial records.

The details of these activities are outlined in agreements and directives issued by the Government of Pakistan, under which we operates.
